Fairy or Pixie Doll
the 2nd in the doll series. She is a similar to Gypsy, but is a little more lithe in stature, so taller and with more of a chin, and of course the pointy ears.
This pattern gives you the option of creating either a Fairy or a Pixie type doll. She stands around 43cm tall when complete and the pattern, (11 pages), includes all instructions for knitting the body, creating the face, hair, clothing as well as including hints and tips along the way to help you create your own doll.
She can be completed with or without a spine or wired limbs, there are a lots of choices in this pattern so you can create your own individual masterpiece. And while she looks tricky to make (she may take a few days), the knitting is relatively easy and quick and it’s the details you add that bring her to life.
Her clothing includes, Panties, Dress with low neckline and flared skirt, flared and pointed boots, with the options of either wings, a garland of flowers or a pixie cap.
You can see that I did not knit the wings for this doll, I was unable to find a suitable yarn at the time of her making, so instead found a use for those odd millinary ‘fascinator’ pieces, that were painted, tweaked and manipulated to create a nice light wing for her.
Please note: this doll is unsuitable for young children and is a piece intended for older children and above. There are no instructions in the pattern for child safe strategies.
You will need 1 x 250gm ball of dk for the body and approx 1 x 250gm ball for hair. Her clothing, dress, panties and cap can be knitted in leftover feature wool. Maybe 1/4 ball or so all up and I have used anything that can be knitted on up to 5mm needles successfully and incorporate any little bits of left- overs you may have.
These little girls are a lot of fun to make, the devil is in the details to a degree, but they are so easily individualized, that the charm is what what you envisage and source to make your own.
