Recently, a friend of mine reminded me that I had promised her a pair of fingerless gloves that she could wear teaching. She needed something close fitting but whimsical to suit her personality.

Her daughters are obsessed with princesses. Thinking of princesses reminded me of participating in medieval reenactments in the SCA. These gauntlets are my whimsical interpretation of what a medieval princess might wear. They are perfect for wearing outside on a cool day or for keeping your hands cozy inside on a cold winter’s day.

These are fun and easy to crochet, so sit back with your favorite show (my I suggest Once Upon a Time?) and whip up a pair!

Please note, I write my patterns in a slightly different style than most people. I use block lists for each row or round so please be sure to read over all that you’ll be doing in a row at once. I am used to writing for 9th grade art students who have trouble tracking multiple steps written in list form. They normally use arrow sticky notes to track which section and step they are on. I wrote my patterns using this approach and took pictures of what I was doing for each step. This is my brain on teaching for 20 years :)

You will need light worsted weight, dk, or sport yarn and an E hook. I have included three sizes for this pattern but you can change the size by changing the weight of yarn and/or the size of your hook.

Thank you Catherine DePasquale for encouraging me to write my second original pattern. Your designs have been a wonderful inspiration for these gloves.
