About the project
The Fairy tale Potholders includes four lovely designs that are inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales:

  • The ugly duckling
  • Soup from a sausage skewer
  • The tinderbox
  • The princess and the pea.

The potholders are made in interlocking crochet, a technique that consists of two crochet parts in different colors which are interlinked and thereby they form a relief picture.
The patterns are for right handed crochet.

Dimensions
The potholders measures approx 20 x 21 cm (25 x 25 windows), depending on the yarn (see below) and hook size.

Yarn
Recommended yarn is cotton 8/4.
50 g / 170 m.
You need two colors. The best result is with contrasting colors.
The pot holders are shown in blue and white.

Skill level
Advanced. You need some basic crochet skills to become familiar with the technique.

There design include diagonals and solid stitches which adds some complexity to the basics in interlocking crochet.

Help and support
The pattern includes an interlocking crochet technique guide with a lot of photos and video tutorials. Here you crochet a little square that takes you through all stitches that is used in the potholder patterns.
