You require two colors of yarn. For example, black (the background), white (the flowers) and, if desired, some yarn for small leaves on the edges of the shawl, for example green. In this file I don’t give an explanation of Color Changing & Carrying the Yarn. But you can watch my video where I show how to add a third color for this shawl. Before starting to work, I advise you to carefully watch this video.

Technique: Double-sided Overlay Mosaic crochet bottom up row by row.
Yarn:

• white in the pattern: 763 Fruity ‘o’ Tutty Whirl, light green (approx. 50g) of 561 Sippy Sage Whirl
• black in the pattern: two and 70g of 855 Grappa Whirlette
• green in the pattern: some leftover yarn

Gauge: 13 stitches in 5cm (2”) by 7 rows in 5cm (2”) in dc stitch pattern.
Using a different gauge won’t affect the design, but it will change the finish size and the amount of yarn needed.

Hook 2.5 mm. Hook size needed to match the gauge.

Yardage approx. 1230 m of black and 1230 m of white, some leftover yarn (1345 yards of black, 1345 yards of white)

Size: 42 cm wide and 156 cm long (120 rows by 397 stitches, 16½ inches wide and 61½ inches long) fringe length not included.

The use of other types of yarn can greatly affect the amount of yarn needed.

Gauge: 10 stitches in 5cm (2”) by 5 rows in 5cm (2”) in dc stitch pattern.

Hook 3.25 – 3.5 mm. Hook size needed to match the gauge.

Yardage approx. 1600 m of black, 1500 m of white. (1750 yards of black, 1640 yards of white)
