Have you ever thought: I should’ve taken the sweater with me, it’s getting cold? Or maybe you have actually taken the cardigan on your way out, but the weather changed, the cardigan was not necessary anymore and suddenly… you ended up with no bag big enough to fit it in?

I have - more times than I can count. And that’s why I came up with the FALKA bag pattern. Although it looks inconspicuous, it stretches like magic. And on top of that, knitting yourself a FALKA bag enables you to use skeins (no kidding, I did the Q&A on it!) almost every knitter can find in their stash.

This trapezoidal bag is knitted using the Magic Loop technique from the bottom up. Its final form is achieved by decreasing on both sides at the same time. The double knitted handle is really solid and involves no sewing to the edges of the bag. You can add an elastic to the upper facing or simply pull a string/strap through it.

The pattern is designed to be used on mobile devices (iPad, phone, computer etc), but there is a printable working sheet at the very end of it in case you need to write something down with pencil and paper!

Sizes:

There are 3 sizes to choose from:
the smallest, ready to accommodate more than your mobile,
medium, which will be suitable both for the beach and for evening dates,
the largest, which can handle whatever your heart desires.

And if you ever find yourself dreaming about a wider, narrower, longer or shorter FALKA bag, the design is really easy to modify. In the pattern you will find detailed instructions on where and how to adjust it best.

Suggested yarn:

100 (150-200) 250 g DROPS - Muskat

Swatch and gauge:

Gauge measured from a swatch knitted in rounds using 4x4 rib stitch on 3,5 mm US 4 needles - after washing and blocking:
