Fall Break
No PURL needed, REVERSIBLE shawl.
I’m a yarnaholic. I usually fall in love with single skeins of sock weight yarn. Lately I have become and equal opportunity shopper, updating my “obsession” to include single skeins of sport or aran weight yarn. (“I can knit hats” I tell myself). And let us not forget handspun yarn! So how can I combine yarns of different weight into a single cohesive project? Fall break is the response, designed for pairing two single skeins of unmatched yarn: a heavy weight yarn to knit the triangle body, and a fingering weight yarn for the border. Et voilà, two skeins are magically transformed into an amazing shawlette!
Pattern includes written directions. It’s a great design for showcasing a variety of yarns from solid to variegated.
Construction: This reversible shawl is constructed in 2 parts. The main body is knitted first and a fun border is added picking up the stitches along the edges.
Sizes: It all depends on the weight of the yarn you’ll choose. a “formula” is given to customize the size of the shawl.
Approximate measurements after blocking:
Coral Shawl - 56” wide x 18” deep, 140 cm wide x 46 cm deep.
Green Shawl - 90” wide x 22” deep, 225 cm wide x 56 cm deep.
Pinky Shawl - 100” wide x 18” deep, 260 cm wide x 46 cm deep.
Yarn: this shawl is designed to pair 2 different weight of single skeins of yarn. It’s up to you which yarn to choose!
Level: Easy to intermediate.
