A sideways knit, triangular scarf or shawl in two depths worked in one piece with an i-cord edging. The leaf patterned lace border is easy, with purling on WS rows. The ridged pattern for the main part of the shawl creates a textured contrast to the flowing lines of the border.

It is easily customisable for size and available yarn amounts and thickness as approximately half the yarn is used before starting decreases. An interesting, but not difficult knit for the intermediate knitter, which makes a versatile scarf / shawl either in sports weight or in a heavier weight yarn for a cosy winter wrap.

MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING: shallow (deeper)
approx. 72’’ / 183 cm ( 88’’ / 224 cm) x 16’’/ 41cm (24’’ / 61cm),
using sports weight on 5 mm (# 8) needles.

MATERIALS REQUIRED: shallow (deeper)
Sports weight yarn, approx 550 yd/ 503 m (740 yd/ 677 m).
Circular Needle: 80cm (32”), 5 mm (US # 8) or size for gauge.

GAUGE:
26sts / 28 rows = 4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) in ridged patten using sports weight on 5mm needles, before blocking.
Gauge is not critical and depends on chosen yarn and personal preference, but any difference is likely to affect the finished size.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.

SKILLS REQUIRED: lace knitting (not on WS), Patterning on WS as well as RS rows, attached i-cord (instructions given).
