When I created this pattern I used a worsted weight on a US 9, however after completion, I would recommend a thinner yarn weight, or whatever weight and needles you find suitable for lace knitting.

I also highly recommend wet blocking.

I used an acrylic yarn, however cotton is also recommended, unless you do not plan to have anything hot placed on the runner, and then you may use for your favorite lace yarn as well.
