These socks are knitted in the round from the toe up, using the magic loop method. If you don’t know magic loop or don’t like it, you can adapt the pattern to working on 4 needles instead of two by diving the stitches evenly among your 4 needles like you normally would.

For this pattern you will need:

  • 2.25mm set of circular needles - this pattern makes a large pair of socks, that fit size 8-12. If you have smaller feet you can use a smaller needle.
  • One skein of your favourite sock yarn. The sock in the photo was made using Cherry Tree Hill Broadband Supersock in Champlain Sunset
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Place markers - these are optional, I don’t always use them personally.

Techniques Used:
-Knit (K)
-Knit Through Back Loop (KTBL)

  • Purl (P)
  • Purl Two Together (P2TOG)
  • Slip (s)
  • Slip, Slip, Knit (SSK)
  • Knit Two Together (K2TOG)
  • Slip, Slip, Knit, Pass Slipped Stitches Over (SSKPSSO)
  • Yarn Over
  • Make One (M)

Other Stuff:

  • You must know how to read and follow a lace chart, as there are no written instructions for that part.
  • These socks are knit from the toe up so you will need to know how to create a closed toe using either a Turkish cast on or Judy’s Magic cast on. Either one will work.
  • You will also need to know how to do a stretchy bind off. There are several to choose from. Lori’s Twisty Bind Off is the easiest one to do if you are new to this technique.
  • If you get stuck anywhere in the pattern you can always email me for me help OR by checking out any number of fantastic YouTube tutorials, anytime I am stuck on a pattern I head over there for help. There are some great teachers on YouTube.
