Falling Leaves Beret/Slouch Hat
The Falling Leaves beret/slouch hat knitting pattern evokes the essence of the season for which it was named with a border of leaves swirling one into another around its perimeter. This lovely leaf stitch pattern is a modification of Barbara Walker’s timeless ‘Fern Lace’ pattern. Additional details include a twisted rib edge and a twelve-point star raised decrease on the crown. I’ve been told that it looks like a giant dahlia!
Falling Leaves is suited to most any worsted weight yarn and makes a great one skein project.
I was particularly happy with how this hat knit up using the Knit Picks Swish Worsted and Tonal yarns. It has great stitch definition, yet is nice and soft. Unfortunately, I believe the Foliage colorway is now being discontinued by Knit Picks. Don’t despair, though, they have lots of other lovely shades of yellow and orange to choose from for that autumn vibe! My solid color sample was knit using the Allspice colorway.
