Falling Leaves Cowl
‘Fall, leaves, fall, die, flowers, away; Lengthen night and shorten day; Every leaf speaks bliss to me; Fluttering from the autumn tree. ‘
- Emily Brontë
The Falling Leaves Cowl is part 1 of a beautiful cowl and fingerless mitts set, made using just 1 ball of White Gum Wool ‘4ply Ethical Merino’.
This cowl is in celebration of Autumn, which is just around the corner here in Australia. The cooler temperatures and gentle-muted tones of this season bring to mind cosy light knits that allow for a variety of temperatures.
This cowl is the perfect seasonal accessory, features 2 panels of cabled branches as well as sections of lace leaves. There are folded over picot hems that add a beautiful delicate touch and my favourite part is a ICord drawstring with little leaf details that you can synch in around your neck to keep out the chilly air for a bit of extra cosiness.
For the Falling Leaves Cowl you will need 320m of any 3 or 4ply yarn. I’d recommend something that will allow for good stitch definition, nothing too fluffy or loose, as there is a lot of detail in this pattern that you really want to highlight! You will also want to have on hand a 3.25mm (US3) circular needle with a 60cm cable, as well as 2 double pointed needles in 3mm (US2) for the ICord and leaves.
