Falling Leaves Oversized Scarf
This is a pattern for an oversized scarf in fall colors knit and crocheted using worsted weight yarn. Use the same yarns and colorways to create the scarf as pictured, or choose your own palette. The scarf is constructed by knitting each individual square with leaf motif separately. The squares are then crocheted together to assemble the final item. US crochet terms are used. The squares with leaves are placed in opposite directions giving the illusion of falling leaves.
For the pictured scarf, no more than ~75 yards of each color yarn were used for the knitted squares, while ~150 yards was used for the crocheted border. All yarns are worsted weight.
Scarf as shown contains 32 leaf squares and is 12” wide by 100” long. If you prefer a shorter scarf, simply use the number of squares needed to obtain desired dimensions. It is also possible to make a wider scarf by rearranging the squares.
All my designs are inspired by the natural beauty of my home state of Michigan. This scarf was inspired by Michigan’s beautiful fall colors.
