These yarn keepers (or, gift bags - or, with an added lining, an elegant evening bag) are especially handy for knitters who prefer to work while they walk.

The ‘Falling Leaves’ pattern is easier than it looks, and is worth taking the time - plus, it will stretch enough that one of those humongous commercial cakes will fit easily. It helps is the knitter works fairly loose. (I used a 6-inch bubble vase for the photos.)

There is no specific gauge required for this pattern. If a larger or smaller size is needed, suggest using either larger or smaller needles.

Knowledge of stitches required:

Cast-on, Knit, Purl, K2T (knit 2 together), SSK (Slip 2 stitches knitwise, slip them back to the left needle, then knit both together through the back), P2T (Purl 2 together), YO (Yarn Over to increase), PM (Place Marker), 3x2 Rib (K3,P2)
