Pattern gives hat sizes for the whole family. Fingerless gloves are for adults only.
To make the pattern work you need a multi color yarn that does not have the same colors as the solid color. I needed the entire hank of solid color to make the hat and gloves. The second set I bought a second hank of solid since I did not care for the feeling of panic on whether I would make it or not.
An understanding of how to knit gloves is a plus but not necessarily.
