notes
Maine winters can be brutal; biting winds, subzero
temperatures and several feet of snow cause sweet
woodsmoke to billow from old brick buildings. Steaming
hot beverages help warm us from the inside--and likewise, this scarf embodies and protects during the inhospitable winter months. Deep chevrons give hints of rustic vintage while simultaneously pleasing the knitter with their rich textures and shapes, reminiscent of a blazing fire. The fabric carries its drape smoothly at this large gauge but also has the body to retain warmth. The yarn, Osprey, inspires and defines Downeast Maine with its contradictory workhorse softness and crisp stitch definition. Inspiration is often borne out of necessity, and this scarf is no exception; a traditional yet modern archetype to wear for many months to come.
