Family Hats
by Barbara Hurd
I was looking for a family hat; a unique pattern that would be easy to recreate without much thought, year after year. It had to have a design element that could individualize it. This hat has a simple cast-on colored edge (which can be made from several yards of leftover yarn). I used a super-fine merino from Carolina Homespun that my husband got me as a Christmas gift. I’ve made about ten of these and have yet to get a request for the same colored edge. But if that happens, just pull out your scrap yarn and see if you have it in a different shade.
