I was inspired to design this pattern one day when I was driving behind a mini van that had decals in the back window, showing characters of each of the members of that family. Right then, I thought that would be a great idea to incorporate into a personalized family name doily. This doily pattern includes the two different doily styles that are shown in the photos, and can be completely personalized to fit your family. It includes all of the letters in the alphabet and it can fit up to an 8-letter name. It also includes all of the numbers, so you can personalize the doily with the date your family was established (or maybe when you bought your first home, or when your first child was born, whatever fits your family). It also includes each of the characters shown in the photos (Dad, Mom, Boy, Girl, Cat and Dog). You can switch the characters around to fit your family. The doily pattern will fit up to two parents and five children/pets. Instructions are also included for the edging shown.

The doily is made using 20 weight cotton thread and a size 10 crochet hook. The doily in the first photo measures approximately 12-1/4” high x 15” wide (before ironing). The doily in the second photo measures approximately 13-1/2” high x 15” wide (before ironing). You must have the ability to follow written, graph and diagram/symbol instructions.
