These beautiful socks are a celebration of all that family is.

Design inspiration came from illustrations of DNA, which subsequently turned my thoughts to family, and what family means. We share the same DNA with our parents and siblings although we can be so very different! On the other hand, we share no familial DNA with our fellow knitters, yet we all have this common bond which unites us as ‘family’.

This design features unique twisted, rope cabling which adds depth and definition on a canvas of basic stocking stitch. Four rows of these small, but sassy cables zigzag down the entire length of each sock {front and back}, eventually moving towards the centre, forming a pleasant peak at the toe. Inner rows form diamonds given interest by the use of lightly textured seed stitch.

Although instructions are given to work with a cable needle, these small 2 over 1 twisted cables definitely lend themselves to working without. The pattern uses minimal construction techniques, ie Fleegle Heel which allows cabled lines an uninterrupted path to back/bottom of heel.

The size given is for a 66 stitch count, worked on 2.25mm needles, which is still a firm fit on medium. Adjustments can be made using more/less stitches at sides, and/or changes to needle size.

A classic and elegant design with clean lines that will have every member of your family lining up for their pair(s)!

NB: Just recording a small correction. I think all corrections have been made now, but will make a note here in case -

Page 3 - instructions for beginning heel turn should include a P1, after the P2tog, in initial set up for Fleegle Heel shaping {worked on Needle 2}.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
