Happy Christmas in July! The Fanciful Felted Curly-Toe Stocking pattern is now free as gift to you. My friends and I really enjoy knitting & felting this stocking, and I’d enjoy seeing your finished projects. Have fun!

The Fanciful Felted Curly-Toe Stocking is a wonderful project for feeling the holiday spirit any time of the year. This is a great next-step beginner project because knitting a stocking is simply knitting a really long hat with a heel. You’ll be using worsted weight wool yarn and big needles. The pattern offers the stocking in 23” and 27” cuff to toe felted finished heights. My favorite part of the project is tossing the stocking into a top-loading washer to felt away any minor errors, and to be amazed with the results.

The stocking uses one skein of Color C for the cuff, stripes, heel and toe. Colors A and B use about a half skein. Two coordinating 23” stockings can be made with an additional skein of “Color C”.

(Oct.’13) The extra-fancy stocking was worked with novelty yarn held w/worsted wool on every other round through-out the stocking. (A second skein of wool was needed to finish the toe of the longer stocking.)
(Nov.’13) The shorter extra-fancy stocking was worked with novelty yarn held w/worsted wool through-out the cuff.
