Fandango
This has been a popular pattern at my yarn shop, so we are going to have a knit-a-long using this shawlette. It is really not much bigger than a scarf, except it has good length and can be wrapped more than once and still have some length left. You will be using beads, either 129 glass size 2/0 beads OR 430 size 6/0 glass beads and a size 13/14 steel crochet hook to insert them into your knitting.
You will learn how to make elongated cabled stitches that sit between your elongated beaded rows. On the bottom, the lace is the ever-popular, classic feather and fan stitch pattern shaped with easy short rows (complete directions included). You will receive complete directions for all of this in the pattern.
You only need 300 yds of dk or heavy sport weight yarn. I am partial to madelinetosh’s Tosh DK. It’s heavenly to work with and has gorgeous, gorgeous colors. The one in the photo is called Baltic and it is the lovely deep turquoise blue. Dream in Color’s “Perfectly Posh” is the multicolored shawl pictured with the three 2/0 beads in one column. This is a sumptuous blend of cashmere, silk, wool, kid mohair - just yummy!
Look at the pictures closely and you will see the choice of beading you have in the pattern. You may use a row of three 2/0 beads or two rows of five each of the 6/0 beads.
This is a fairly quick knit and would make excellent gifts!
