Far & Wide Shawl
I met Stephanie (Owner of Loop Fibre Studio) at Rhinebeck in 2018 and I was totally inspired by her new range of Yin Yang Artisanal Millspun yarns that I pretty much cast on this design less than a week after I got home!
This is one of those patterns that is just so fun to knit and has an easy short repeat making it very memorisable once you get going.
Knit up in Worsted weight yarn on large needles makes this a very satisfying quick knit and I think it would look amazing in a variety of yarn combinations … and even Handspun!
What you will need:
• Yarn – 4x 100g Worsted Weight Yarn - Yarn used in sample is Loop Fiber Studio Artisanal Millspun Yarn in Colours Wide (A), Far (B), Once (C), & For All (D) (100g – 211m/220yd).
• Needles – 5mm (US 8) needles on Long Cable to accommodate all the stitches.
• Notions – Stitch Markers (not really needed for the pattern but can be used to keep track of stitch counts). I would also suggest a progress keeper for the beginning to help keep track of the right side of your work.
• Gauge – Approx 18 sts/ 4 inches in garter stitch after gentle blocking (although gauge is really not too important with this shawl as long as you are liking the fabric you are getting).
Finished Size of Shawl – 241cm (95 inches) on the longest edge & 51cm (20 inches) at the deepest point.
