This shawl was originally designed as a gift to comfort a friend during a time of much grief. In honor of Infant Loss Awareness Month, each October all proceeds from the sale of this pattern for the month are donated to charities that offer support and guidance to families suffering the loss of a child. October 2020 proceeds will be given to IrthApp, a yelp-like app working to address racism & bias in maternity & infant care.

Faraway, So Close is a simple shawl that uses repetition of various stitch patterns to achieve a more complex effect. It can be worked in two sizes from worsted to aran weight yarn, and features a modest ruffle and optional crochet edge in contrasting color.

Sizes + Finished Measurements
Pattern is written in two sizes with the larger size in parentheses as shown: SM (LG). Lace measurements can vary widely, so measurements are approximate and are taken after blocking.

Materials
Yarn: In worsted weight yarn you will need approximately 275 (550) yards or 250 (500) meters of MC and 170 (200) yards or 155 (180) meter of CC. The yarn used in the pattern photos is Selah Bella; a single ply, 50/50 silk/merino blend.

Notions: 2 stitch markers and a darning needle for weaving in ends.
