This is the sweater I finished the week before our daughter Linnea left us to live with her Oma (Granny) in Germany for a college year abroad. That’s why it got its name. I could also have named it “See you soon”, but I felt sad at the time :)

Farewell Sweater is a fairly close-fitted and hip-hitting raglan pullover with broad 2x2 rib details around the edges. It has a minimum of an A-line to improve the fit over bust and hip. The neck is wide and flattering with a small rib detail.

This design uses two completely different yarns combined - yarn held doubled. I used one thread of soft wool yarn with one thread of hemp and cotton blend to create a soft, yet warm sweater that can be worn over any shirt, blouse, or tank.

Yardage: about 700-900 m/800-1000 yards of each yarn – both yarns are sport weight with a recommended gauge of 23-26 sts.

Circumference hip:90(96)100(105) cm/36(38)40(42)”
Circumference bust:
80(86.5)90(96.25)cm/32(34)36(38.5)” – calculated to be worn with 2” of negative ease.
Length: 52-55 cm/20.5-22”. Length is optional according to your own preferences.
Sleeves: 46 cm/18” from underarm to BO edge, but optional.

The pattern includes instructions for knitting the sweater flat or in the round, the choice is yours.

Happy knitting!
