Originally published in Making Magazine, the Farm-to-Skein COLORWORK THORW is an easy-to-knit, colorwork blanket inspired by Cecelia Campochiaro’s SEQUENCE KNITTING.

In addition to the original directions for a throw, I have updated the pattern to include directions for a Baby Blanket.

The blanket is knit flat, end-to-end and the Sequence knitting creates a rhythmic flow. Knitting it became a wonderful way to ground myself each night before I went to bed.

Originally I used 6 skeins of one of my favorite Maine grown and naturally dyed yarns, Lana Plantae fingering weight Rambouillet yarn and created a colorful throw to brighten up my fisherman’s house on Vinalhaven Island.

For my second throw, I used 6 skeins of Jill Draper Makes Stuff’s lovely Mohonk Light, another locally sourced and lovingly hand-dyed yarn, sheep-to-skein yarn.

And I have also knit 2 baby blankets: one in yarn sourced and dyed on Vinalhaven and one in Plucky Knitter Primo Sport.

CONSTRUCTION
Knit flat from end to end.

YARN

• 6 half-skeins (full-skeins) Jill Draper Makes Stuff Mohonk Light 100% NYS grown unregistered cormo wool; 550 yds/4 oz skein or
• Approx 1650 (3300) yds/1500 (3000)m or 6 2 oz (4 oz) skeins of fingering weight yarn split evenly between colors

NEEDLES
US size 5 (3.75mm) 32”/80cm circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge

GAUGE
23 sts and 42 rows = 4”/10cm in Sequence Pattern, blocked.
While exact gauge isn’t critical, variation in gauge will alter final measurements.
