Farmer's Bouncing Baby Ball
All my patterns are 50% off until the end of Dec/2016 with the code: winter
This pattern is a “3R’s Victorian Pattern”--researched, reworked, rewritten. It appeared in a magazine in 1887, and is fun and quick to make--it only took me a couple of hours.
A knitted ball that will keep any bouncing baby happy whether they live on a farm or in a town! Knit it in one colour or patchwork, a fun and easy 2 needle garter stitch toy that babies & toddlers can toss without hurting the target. Also makes a great dryer ball if you knit it in 100% wool and stuff it with wool yarn bits or fleece.
I used small amounts of Red Heart Super Saver Solids yarn and 3.25mm needles--it must be knit tightly so stuffing doesn’t get pulled out. You could make larger or smaller balls by using thicker or thinner yarn, but make sure you use needles much smaller than the recommended size to keep your knitting at a tight gauge.
This ball is a great project to learn to knit short rows! No holes because of tight gauge in garter stitch--just turn and knit.
I hope your bouncing baby has fun with this ball. Be sure to check back very soon for the next Prairie Farmers Winter Gifts pattern.
