There is a timelessness to the farmhouse; wellies on the mat in the mudroom, braided rugs on the life-polished floorboards, a fire in the woodstove, a mug of tea in your hand, and a three-quarter square shawl wrapped around your shoulder as you stand out on the porch overlooking the landscape.

Finished Measurement:
The finished piece is ¾ square with a ¾ square neck hole. Measurements will vary depending on how strongly or subtly you block your finished piece. Approximately 38” square with an 8.5” square center

Yarn Requirements:
100 g each of two colors (A & B) Fingering Weight
Shown in Dye Monkey Yarns – Samba Monkey
(400 yards/100 grams, 100% Superwash Merino, colors: (A)Dark Roast and (B) Wet Sand).

Recommended Needles:
Size 4 (3.5mm) 47” circular or size required to get gauge. Please note – gauge is flexible, but yardage will vary.

Supplies:
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends, 6 stitch markers, and a row counter may be helpful.

Gauge:
Approximately 20 sts / 40 rows = 4” (10 cm) stockinette blocked.

Notes: The shawl is knit top down. The majority is a very simple stockinette with color changes. Carry your yarn along the outside edge, twisting as you go. For the larger sections worked in just one color, break the unused color and weave in those ends, rather than carrying that color for multiple rows and disrupting the edge. The lace section is presented both charted and written out so that you can work from your preferred method. The edge lace is worked as an applied border, essentially binding off the bottom edge while “sewing” on a narrow lace. Stitch counts are given for every increase set for your convenience. I’ve also included checkboxes to assist you in keeping track of completed rows.
