Birita Faroe Island Shawl
Note: Use one strand (singles) of the Schoolhouse Press Icelandic yarn, or spin your own laceweight as Marilyn did.
Note: The errata link is for the version of this pattern published in Piecework, January/February 1998. The corrections have been applied to the Knitting Traditions version.
Note: This shawl will take substantially more yarn than the 300-500 yards quoted in the pattern.
Originally published as Birita in Føroysk Bindingarmynstur / Faroese Knitting Patterns, which was translated by Marilyn van Keppel. This is described as An Extremely Large Shawl. The pattern calls for 130 grams of single ply yarn, a lining made with 150 grams of single ply (white) yarn, and 50 grams of two ply for fringe.
