The shawl is knitted from the bottom up.

Featured as Hvalba in The Knitter magazines.

Each row consists of a 5 st border, one triangular ‘wing’, the back gusset, a second triangular ‘wing’ and a 5 stitch border. Separate charts are given for the wings and the border.

At the shoulders, extra stitches are decreased in the wings. Then one border is knitted along the remaining stitches, removing them, and the two borders are grafted together.

I used Sweetgeorgia Yarns Bulletproof Sock yarn; 50% superwash merino, 20% nylon, 15% kid mohair, 15% silk; 437 yds / 400 m per 3.5 oz / 100 g for the maroon shawl, and ColourMart 100% lambswool DK for the navy shawl.

NOTE: Row 2 of the garter stitch sequence after the lace should read:
Row 2: S1p, k4, SM, k2tog, k to 2 sts before FINAL M, k2togtbl, SM, k5.
