Faroese Scribble Shawl
This elegant shawl is shaped in the traditional Faroese style, but not knit with a traditional yarn! Light as a feather- And warmer and easier than you would think…The bird-wing Faroese shaping keeps it neatly on your shoulders. Inspired by Debbie New’s scribble lace technique, this interesting fabric is created when a row of bulky weight yarn is worked here and there within an overall fabric of loosely knit lace weight yarn. A thick and thin yarn will give a different look than a smoother bulky- why not try both! This type of knitting is mildly addictive…
SKILLS USED: Basics, shaping.
MATERIALS NEEDED: 1 sk Ironstone’s Fun (80 yds; this is the bulky yarn) and an approximately 2 oz. ball of Jaggerspun’s Zephyr (250 yds; this is the lace yarn), US #15 (10mm)- 29” circular needle, 4 stitch markers.
GAUGE: Very approximately 10 sts and 10 rows per 4” in stockinette stitch with lace yarn.
