Farscape inspired Rygel Doll
It’s everyone’s favorite exiled Dominar from the sci-fi space adventure, Farscape! How he came to be: I was looking online for an amigurumi-style Rygel pattern to make for a friend, but I couldn’t find one--so I designed my own. There may be a few loyal Farscape fans/crafters out there in Internet Land, so I’m offering my pattern to the masses. (Chiana doll pattern sold separately.)
Materials you will need to make your own 5-inch (12cm) tall Rygel: D/3.25mm and E/3.5mm crochet hooks, worsted-weight acrylic yarn in drab green, white and black yarn, stuffing, weighty filling such as beads or beans, polar fleece for robe, and 5mm blue plastic safety eyes (available at amazon.com).
Pattern is for beginner-to-intermediate crochet skills. You will need to know how to read a crochet pattern and do chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, and double crochet. Definitions of stitch abbreviations are included. Doll parts are crocheted in spiral rounds. To make the face details and the robe, you should also know basic hand-sewing stitches such as backstitch and whipstitch. Step-by-step photo illustrations included.
*You are welcome to sell the finished product you make with my pattern, but PLEASE give me credit as the pattern designer by including “JanaGeek at Ravelry.com” in the ad copy. Thanks!*
