Fascine Socks
This pattern was designed to showcase the tonal, gently variegated yarn that I had dyed over the summer. It is incredibly simple to work, and yet the stitch pattern creates the illusion of a somewhat complex braided look. Simple enough for a confident beginner, Barbara Walker’s Fascine stitch throws a little fun in every time you create the “braided” section.
The sock is worked from the toe up, and is written for the Magic Loop technique, however you are encouraged to use the needle style you are most comfortable with.
If you need to adjust the pattern to fit (either up or down), one way to do that would be to add or subtract stitches from the purl section of the ribbing. For reference, the sample was knit for myself, a plus size woman. Try your sock on as you go to see if you’re on the right track for your yarn, needle, and personal knitting gauge.
The pattern has been test knit by several people, however, if you do find an error please let me know.
