FASETT
Fasett has colourful facets that look like rubies, amethysts, ­turqoises and other beautiful gems, framed by white ridges that separate them. Facets are flat surfaces on geometric shapes, most commonly used on gemstones such as diamonds. The gems have facets cut into them to improve their appearence as it allows them to reflect light.

Fasett is a two-coloured shawl knit from tip to tip, with a straight upper edge and a bent lower edge. The facets are shaped with ­short-rows, and the entire shawl is knit in garter stitch. This makes it a very simple ­project that anyone can execute, as long as you know how to make ­increases, decreases and how to slip stitches.

The first tip of the shawl starts with only a few stitches, but ­increases on every 4 rows at the lower edge. The facets are easy to make, and once you get into the rythm you will know how to knit most of it by heart.

This shawl is perfect for your handspun yarn in various colours, combined with a plain white or solid colour yarn. Or perhaps a bunch of mini skeins as the base colour?

Fasett is written for a locally produced Swedish yarn from the ­local mini-mill Östergötlands ullspinneri. The yarns Visjö and ­Karamell are spun with wool from finewool sheep, a ­native ­heritage breed that has a very soft and crimpy wool ­resulting in a fabric that can be worn next to the skin. The ­colourway Karamell is a gorgeous ­gradient yarn that goes through the colours about three times per skein. It can be ordered from ­https­:­//­www.­ullspinneriet.­se/.
