Fast & Flowerous is a fun project for the confident beginner. This sassy little hat knits up quickly in a soft but durable aran weight yarn with an optional crochet flower. Happy knitting!

Sizes: Adult S/M, (Adult L/XL)
Finished circumference: 18 (20) inches 43 (50) cm unstretched, after wet blocking. I recommend choosing a size equal to or somewhat smaller than the actual circumference of your head. This hat is comfortably stretchy.

Yarn:
Hat: Cestari 2 Ply Worsted 100% merino wool 178 yds/3.5 ounces: One 3.5 ounce (100 g) hank
Optional crochet flower embellishment: Woolstok Worsted by Blue Sky Fibers 100% fine highland wool: Two 5 g mini hanks (12 yds/10 m each), one for flower and one for leaves, plus a scrap of Cestari left over from hat for French knot

Gauge:
Knitting: 18 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches 10 cm in stockinette after washing and blocking
Crochet: One leaf measures 2.25 inches (5.7 cm) long and 0.75 inches (1.9 cm) wide.

Suggested needles and hook:
US size 8 (5 mm) 16 in (40 cm) circular or size needed to obtain gauge.
US size 8 (5 mm) dpn or size needed to obtain gauge.
US G (4 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Recommended Additional Supplies:
Stitch markers: one unique for BOR, plus additional markers to designate decrease sections, and two locking removable stitch markers to designate right side of earflaps. A locking removable stitch marker for BOR is convenient when switching to dpn for crown of hat.
Straight pins are helpful when placing embellishment.
Large-eye yarn needle for finishing.
