The “Fast as FUN” socks are simply what the name implies: They are fast and fun to knit.

They are made using fingering weight yarn held double.

The pattern provides instructions to make simple Vanilla socks, striped socks or contrasting heel, toe & cuff.

The special thing about the “Fast as FUN” socks is that it can be knitted in whichever direction you prefer (toe-up or top-down) using the exact same instructions for the heel.
The heel is constructed with “short rows” using ssk/ k2tog and picking up the stitches again later out of these decreases. This technique creates an interesting line at the sides of the heel. I call this way of knitting the heel my “Lazy Reversible Heel”.

This pattern is written for magic loop knitting. But for an experienced sock knitter it would be easy to adapt it to DPNs as well.
The ”Fast as FUN” socks are the perfect opportunity to play with colors and leftovers!

SIZES 1 (2) 3 (4)
fitting european sizes: 36-38, (39-41), 42-45, (46-48)
or US sizes: 5.5 -7, (7.5 -9), 9.5 -11.5, (12 -13.5)
finished foot & leg circumference: 16.5, (18.5), 20, 21.5 cm or 6.5, (7.25), 8, (8.5) inches
--> The sock is supposed to have some negative ease!

MATERIALS
Yarn: Fingering weight sock yarn held double
Yarn amount needed: 90, (100), 110, (120) g
For the samples I used Schoppel Zauberball Crazy “Dark Autumn Inspiration”, Wollmeise Twin, Mondschaf Pegasus Minis, and selfdyed standard sock yarn (75% wool / 25% Polyamid).

Needles: 3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles
3 mm / US 2 circular needles for the ribbing
Gauge: 24 sts / 33 rows in stockinette for 10x10 cm / 4x4 inches (blocked and dried)
Notions: 1 progresskeeper, scissors, tapestry needle
