Fast Friends is a top-down triangle shawl inspired by how quickly members of our community becomes friends. I frequently find that in the fiber world, our passion for our craft brings us together and, especially when we meet in person, friendships just blossom. Emily @fangirlfibers and I met at Flock Fiber Festival in August 2023, and immediately became good friends! We decided we needed to collaborate on a project, and we chose this incredibly gorgeous “Scream Queen” 6 x 50g DK set to work with. Fast Friends was born out of a love for the community and a love for simple but striking patterns. All 6 colors become fast friends in this super wearable shawl!

This squishy DK triangle shawl is worked from the center top down, with increases worked on the outer edges and along the center spine to form the classic triangle shape. Garter stitch, corrugated ribbing, and stripes create this simple, fun pattern!

This special collaboration is with my instant friend Emily Madsen of Fangirl Fibers, and yarn support was provided for the sample.

For results that look most similar to the sample, choose tonals or solid colorways with similar yardage that feel comfortable against your skin. I used superwash merino yarn but any base will work beautifully! Superwash yarns will have more drape, non-superwash yarn will have more structure.
