This is a PDF crochet pattern for a luxurious “no animals harmed” faux bear skin nursery rug or photo prop. Looks great as a nursery decoration and it is totally adorable for newborn photo sessions (that’s my newest grandson in the red onesie)!

APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS:
The rug as written (and with the suggested yarn amount) is approximately 25” wide and 40” long. For this size you will need 12-15 skeins of Red Heart Boutique Fur Yarn. If you can’t find it in your local stores, several links are provided to order it online. You will also need a small amount of either #4 ww or #5 (light) bulky yarn for the muzzle.

The pattern itself is EASY. However…working with fur yarn is NOT easy. You must be able to “feel” for your stitches so I’ve labeled it intermediate skill level. This pattern looks best with the yarn listed, but a gauge is provided so you can try other alternatives. However, you will have to figure out the amounts needed yourself. ;)

This pattern was designed using safety eyes and nose ONLY. No crochet alternatives are listed (sorry, but I wanted it to look more real). Feel free to substitute your own crochet eyes/nose if you like. This rug is NOT a toy and therefore should never be left around unsupervised children.
