FAUX CABLE SCARF
By knitting 2 separate pieces of ribbing and joining them with an exaggerated afghan seam we get a cabled scarf with a
very neat slit and not a single crossed stitch.
YARN, GAUGE, SIZE AND MACHINE:
This design is for any gauge of machine with a ribber. A very patient knitter could accomplish it on a single
bed machine by reforming lots and lots of stitches to make the ribbing. Bebe yarn is used for the Japanese standard and
Passap 5mm machine at stitch size 3/3 or 4/4 in 1X1 Rib. Mid-gauges may also use a single strand at a much smaller stitch size. Bulky machines and some mid-gauges will use a Bebe double stranded at about stitch size 3/3 for bulkies and a larger stitch size for mid-gauge machines. Swatch for fabric that looks nice and knits well rather than trying to match the gauge perfectly. It is easy to change the stitch and row count to match your gauge. ment but it is easy to modify the size to your specifications. Standard gauge is 13.3 stitches/8.9 rows per inch when all needles on one bed are counted across the span in use. Bulky version gets 8.9 stitches/5.8 rows per inch when all needles on one bed are counted across the span in use.
