Use your favorite yarn for this hat - any yarn, (nearly) any gauge works with this pattern.

The stretchy garter stitch brim of this hat is worked sideways, and has an optional i-cord edging or an optional reinforced edge on one side. Then you close the brim to the round, switch directions and pick up the stitches for the top of the hat on one edge.

Work the hat as long as you like – shorter for a beanie, or a bit longer for a slouchy hat.

Also looks nice with a pompom!

Use variegated or self-striping yarn to play with the different appearance of the stripes!
