Favorite Lace Wrap
From the Knit Picks Website:
Favorite is a trans-seasonal lace garment which can be worn as a scarf in winter and as a light wrap in any season. It features complex openwork edgings 13” deep which culminate in gracefully fluted ends. The center section is a simple diamond grid which echoes the main design motif of the edging. Both edgings and center are garter-based lace which does not roll.
The patterns for both the center section and the edging are charted.
Historical Note:
The edging is based on a pattern from the 1880’s, for which I found hand-written instructions on a yellowing piece of lined paper resurrected from someone’s attic. I translated the row-by-row instructions into chart form, fixed mistakes, and altered some components of the original design. The result is a modern garment with a vintage feel.
