Fayston Cardigan is a bottom-up cardigan worked in pieces with the back 2” longer than the fronts. The front of the cardigan is worked in stockinette stitch with a 1x1 rib edging. The lower back begins with a fun lace pattern in a lighter weight yarn. The lace portion ends with a slight curve created using short-rows, and then transitions to a stockinette stitch section worked in the heavier weight yarn. The pieces are joined and stitches are picked up to work set-in sleeves, which are worked in the round using short-rows to shape the sleeve cap. The 1x1 ribbing from the front continues up to the back to create a knitted-on collar for a clean, finished look.

Knit Picks Shine Sport (60% Pima Cotton, 40% Model; 110 yards/50g): Robot 25331, 2 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5) balls.

Knit Picks Comfy Worsted (75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic; 109 yards/50g): Whisker 24800, 7 (7, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10) balls.

Needles
US 6 (4.0mm) straight or 24” circular needles, or size to obtain gauge
US 7 (4.5mm) straight or 24” circular needles, or size to obtain gauge
US 7 (4.5mm) DPNs or preferred needles to work sleeves in the round, or same size as used to obtain gauge

Gauge
20 sts and 28 rows = 4” in Stockinette st, heavier yarn on larger needles
19.75 sts and 20 rows = 5” in Lace Pattern, lighter yarn on smaller needles
