The Fearless Bucket Hat was born when I could not get the idea of a knitted bucket hat out of my head. After months of seeing bucket hats on the streets of NYC every way I look, I felt inspired to make a knitted version but could not find an existing pattern that was exactly what I wanted. This is how the Fearless Bucket Hat came to be!

This bucket hat is knit in the round starting with the brim, which will be folded over and knit together after shaping. You will use two strands (1 strand of mohair & 1 strand of fingering) held together for the brim, then an additional strand of fingering weight will be used for the body and crown (1 strand of mohair & 2 strands of fingering). This will create a hat with a consistent fabric density.

You can choose between two options for the brim edge: Picot or Purl. My versions in Icy Lavender has a picot edge & in Cosmic Tie Dye has a purl edge.

SUGGESTED NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 5 / 3.75mm - 16” (40 cm) circular and preferred needles for small circumference knitting for crown shaping.
Optional 24” (61 cm) circular needle for brim to accommodate increased stitches.
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors

GAUGE
Brim: 22 sts x 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm
Body: 21 sts x 28 rows = 4” / 10 cm
Measured after blocking. It is important to use the appropriate needle size to ensure you meet gauge.
