In 17th century England, Puritans saw corsetry not as a high fashion ideal, but as a way to further the concepts of rigidity, self-discipline, and conformity.  Nothing could be further from the purpose of this sultry corset-inspired set.  Worked in a buttery-soft Tencel/alpaca yarn in a fiery red, it is anything but puritanical.



The typical bustier covers the torso from the natural waist to the bust.  It may or may not have underwiring, but it does feature boning and is usually strapless with a bare back.  In this version, I’ve added straps for support, but the body-baring qualities are left quite intact.  The slanting cables in this ensemble nip the waistline and add a vertical line, and flirty feather trim highlights feminine assets.  Clever interior shaping brings cables to a V-shaped point at the lower front, quite reminiscent of 1950s corselettes.  Add a pair of matching long fingerless gloves, and you’re ready to go.
