As the name implies, this shawl is wonderfully light and airy. It’s an easy knit and a versatile accessory; drape it over your shoulders, tie it like a kerchief, or wrap as a scarf. We’re sure it will be come your new wardrobe staple.

We’ve knit our shawls in lace- or fingering-weight yarns, but the nature of its construction means you can knit this simple project up in whichever weight of yarn you have on hand.

SIZE
Approx. 228 cm/89.75” wide, 64 cm/25.25” deep. Size is easily adaptable but will affect yardage required.

YARN
Approximately 400-500 m of lace to fingering-weight yarn. Samples shown in:

  • 1 skein of Gathering Yarns Linen Lace (100% Linen, 660m/100g), pictured in lighter coral
  • 1 skein of Lamana Piura Arte (100% Alpaca, 400 m/50 g), pictured in light pink
  • 2 balls Knitting for Olive Pure Silk (100% Silk, 250 m/50g), shown in Raspberry Pink
  • 3 balls of Filcolana Alva (100% Alpaca, 175 m/25g), pictured in Cobalt Blue

NEEDLES
3.75-4.0 mm (US 5-6) circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
5.0-6.0 mm (US 8-10) circular needle, or similar, for bind off.

NOTIONS
Scissors
Tapestry Needle
Blocking Wires (recommended)

GAUGE
Approx. 15 sts & 40 rows= 10cm/4” in garter stitch, after blocking. Gauge is not critical but will affect finished dimensions and yardage required
