Feathery Moebius Cowl
This Moebius cowl starts with the Mohair Loop yarn alone, is joined by Wooly Feathers, and when the Mohair Loop runs out, it continues with just the Wooly Feathers to make a stunning accessory that appears to have a halo around the border.
This pattern, along with others, helps fund research that will put an end to chemotherapy. The never-ending graceful flow of a Moebius mirrors Dr. Krag’s cancer research, whose lab at the University of Vermont Medical School is receiving all proceeds from this pattern and others curated by CastOffChemo.org. Dr. Krag and his research team are poised to begin clinical trials of a treatment that uses the body’s own immune system, eliminating the harmful side effects of chemotherapy. Your purchase helps make this new treatment available to cancer patients sooner rather than later.
My book, The Art of Felfs: Felted Footwear for Families, also donates all proceeds to Dr. Krag’s lab, and has earned $58,000 in a little over a year. For more information on this book and on the research, visit www.Felfs.com.
This pattern is a collaborative labor of love from Mountain Colors (yarn), Cat Bordhi (designer), Audry Nicklin (photography), Jamie McCanless (tech editing), and Megan Chrostowski (model).
A Moebius is refreshingly simple to knit once you learn the cast-on. Fully illustrated instructions are given on pages 3-5, and you will find a link to Cat’s video tutorial on page 3. Many knitters fall in love with this captivating, graceful form and play with it endlessly. This true Moebius is an entirely different form than the awkward result of a twisted cast-on which is often referred to as a Moebius (a myth in the knitting world, alas).
