Feathery Placemats
by Erin Awalt
These ovals are worked in the round in Feather Stitch, a simple variant of puff stitch. They are soft and have a feathery, slightly lacy look with a fan stitch border. They provide a great way to use finer, fingering weight cottons and still end up with some heft to the placemat. You can customize the pattern by choosing the yarn weight and finished size, and you can simplify the edging to a simple single crochet, crab stitch, or slip stitch border if you prefer. Please note this pattern is included as a bonus at the end of my Linen Oval Placemat pattern, available separately.
