NB: you can no longer buy this collection, it has been replaced with a PDF with 12 snowflake patterns: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snowflake-patter...

This pattern includes instructions in how to crochet 3 feathery snowflakes in different sizes. They can be made with many different yarns - some are suggested here - but I suggest not using yarn thicker than 4-ply/fingering as the snowflakes would become very big.

The pattern includes a photo tutorial showing the different steps of the larger snowflake and a detailed explanation in how to make a board for blocking out and stretching the snowflakes. There is also a six-pointed template included as a download. It is written out in UK terms, but there is a translation into US terms in the document.

You can also see the basic patterns - without the photo-tutorial - individually for free on my blog www.saraphir.com (or see the link via my designer profile).

The snowflakes on the photos have mainly been made using 3-ply linen yarn. The last photo shows the largest snowflake made from 4 different yarns: (clockwise from top left) Patons 4-ply cotton, 3-ply linen from Linenspirit, 2-ply linen from Linenspirit, Coats Aida 20. They measure respectively 15 cm, 14 cm, 10 cm and 10 cm from point to point. The 2 other snowflakes are both smaller - in the 3-ply yarn they measure 12 cm and 8 cm.
