A fitted, 3/4 sleeve scoop-neck pullover in the gull lace pattern made popular by Elizabeth Zimmermann’s “February Baby Sweater”.

Bust sizes measure 33 (36, 39.5, 43, 46, 50)”. Shown in Dream in Color Classy, color Deep Seaflower, 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) hanks.

The 3/4 length sleeves and scoop neck are flattering on a variety of body types, and are especially well-suited to the bustier among us. This sweater works dressed up for work or down for play and looks gorgeous in fancy, hand-painted yarns.

Fit: I recommend knitting the sweater with between 2 inches of negative ease and one inch of positive ease at the bust, depending on your measurements and frame. The smaller you are, the more negative ease you want, in my opinion--it should not be puffy or loose in the bust area.

Last updated 07/28/2010. The pattern was updated to reflect the designer’s greater pattern-writing experience. Please download the latest version before you begin! The language has been tightened, abbreviations and notes on fit and modification were added, metric measurements were added to the pattern, and the formatting was improved. I hope you enjoy the new version!

ERRATA

The originally released version of this pattern included a confusing abbreviation for “cast off” (CO, also used for “cast on”), and neck shaping instructions were presented in reverse order.

The scoop neck decreases as originally written are not symmetrical. Some K2togs were placed before markers instead of after. This has been fixed in the July 28 version of the pattern.
