These quick and easy socks were inspired by the winning combination of garter stitch and gull lace, as made famous in Elizabeth Zimmerman’s February Baby Sweater and Pamela Wynne’s February Lady Sweater. Knit from the top down with a garter cuff, this pattern is great for beginning sock knitters who are looking to branch out from plain stockinette and venture into lace. The garter short row heels and toes keep things interesting for more advanced knitters looking for a fun and fast diversion.

A quick note on sizing: because of the stretch of the gull lace stitch pattern and the lack of a ribbed cuff to help hold up the leg, this sock needs to be worn with a lot of negative ease. The sample is the smallest size, worn on a foot that is 8” in
circumference. Length is adjustable.
