Feel Good Baby Hat
A hat designed to form a set with Feel Good Baby Booties.
The name was suggested by one of my testers. It implies that the baby will feel happy being warm and comfortably dressed while the mother will also feel happy seeing her baby both beautiful and snug.
The hat is designed to fit both girls and boys and can come in several options:
• plain border,
• border with embellishment (eg. satin ribbon),
• folded border with ribbing underneath to keep hat well in place and protect little ears from drafts.
The hat is a very quick knit and would be a most appreciated gift for any baby and by any mother, especially if teamed with the matching bootees.
Size: The pattern is written in four sizes: newborn, 3mths, 6mths and 9mths or for head circumference of about 33.5 (37.5/41.5/45.5)cm or 13 ¼ (14 ¾/16 ½/18)in. Make sure to check how big the hat should be as babies’ heads can vary in size considerably.
Size can also be adjusted by going up or down a needle size, or by changing the yarn weight and adjusting the needles accordingly. One of my testers, yarnymama, used DK yarn to get a hat fitting her 6yo.
Level: Adventurous beginner or intermediate. The hat is knit in the round. The pattern uses basic knit and purl stitches, as well as K4in1/K5in1 and cluster stitch in the border (detailed instructions and photo tutorial included).
Needle size: US 1 ½ / 2,5mm and US 2 ½ / 3mm DPNs or circulars if you prefer the magic loop method.
Notions: a stitch marker, tapestry needle for weaving ends.
Gauge: 7 sts and 10 rows in stockinette with US 1 ½ / 2,5mm needles = 2,5cm (1in). I knit rather loosely so you may need to go up a needle size (or two) to get the gauge. (Remember that the size of the hat depends on the gauge and can be modified by changing it. If you want the hat larger, the gauge should be one or two stitches fewer per inch, and if you want the hat smaller, the gauge should be one or two stitches more per inch.)
Yarn suggested: 25 - 50 grams of any fingering weight yarn that meets the gauge. The sample is knitted with Sonata Anilux (70% cotton and 30% rayon).
The pattern was tested and tech-edited by several English speaking testers.

Czapeczka tworzy komplet z bucikami Feel Good Baby Booties.
