Add a bit of fun and warmth to your favorite outfit with the Feeling Groovy Side Tie Vest! This chunky vest is as fun to make as it is to wear. Knit up the back and then down the front, add a ribbed border and collar, and then tie it all together with crochet chain. With its comfy, adjustable fit, it makes a great layering piece over just about any top.

Pattern details:

Skill Level: Beginner

Needle Size:
Size US 15 (10 mm) 40” / 100 cm circular needles for magic loop, or 2–3 mm smaller than larger needles (or additional needles of the same size for your preference of small circumference knitting)

Size US 17 (12.75 mm) 20-40” / 50-100 cm circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Note: Larger needle is used only for knitting in rows, across the width of the Vest. Cord length should be at least as long as the Panel Width (see Schematic on pg. 9) of the size you are making.
Size N/P / US 15 (10 mm) crochet hook (or same size as smaller needles) for ties

Sizes:  1 (2, 3, 4, 5)6, 7, 8, 9

Finished Measurements:
Approx. 36 (38.25, 42.75, 47.25, 52) 56.5, 61, 63.25, 68” / 90 (95.5, 107, 118, 130) 141.5, 152.5, 158, 170 chest circumference

Fit Note:
Recommended to be worn with 0–4” / 0–10 cm of positive ease at the chest, depending on your preferred fit.

Fog Heather and French Vanilla/Dreamweaver samples are shown in size 2 on a 36” / 90 cm chest with 2.25” / 5.5 cm of positive ease.

Honeysuckle/Jade Green sample is shown in size 3 on a 39” / 97.5 cm chest with 3.75” / 9.5 cm of positive ease.

Café Au Lait sample is shown in size 5 on a 38” / 95 cm chest with 14” / 35 cm of positive ease. This shows an oversized fit with more than the recommended amount of positive ease.

Note: Chest circumference includes approx. 0.25” / 0.6 cm of space on each side for ties at tightest position. Chest circumference can be made slightly larger by loosening ties.

Gauge:
7 sts and 10 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch worked flat on larger needles, steam blocked.
Note: Adjust larger needle size as needed to achieve gauge. Then choose needles approx. 2–3 mm smaller for smaller needles.
